APEC Russia 2012: Organizers Announce APEC CEO Summit 2012 Agenda

September 7-8 Vladivostok Meeting Brings Together Asia-Pacific Business and Government Leaders

June 20, 2012 (Moscow, Russia) – Russia’s National Business Center for APEC today announced the agenda of the APEC CEO Summit 2012, “Addressing Challenges. Expanding Possibilities”, taking place September 7-8 in Vladivostok, Russia, in conjunction with APEC Russia 2012 Leaders Week.

The two-day Summit will focus on advancing trade and economic policy and partnerships for the future of the APEC region. More than 700 chief executives from major Asia-Pacific companies as well as government leaders, other influential leaders from the Asia-Pacific are expected to take part in the event.

“The upcoming CEO Summit 2012, which will be carried out alongside with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Vladivostok chaired by Russia, is of paramount importance to our country and to the whole world’s business society,” said Andrey Kostin, Chairman of the APEC CEO Summit 2012; President and Chairman of the Management Board, VTB Bank. “Over 700 chief executives will discuss key global and strategic issues, among which are the globalization and economic integration, trade and finance cooperation, transport infrastructure and rapid development of new technologies. I sincerely hope that all the business decisions made during the CEO Summit will have a huge positive impact on the global economy”.

2012 will mark the first time that the Russian Federation will host the APEC Summit. The National Business Center works on behalf of Russia’s private sector to provide the business community with a collective voice as the Russian Federation works with APEC member nations to improve trade and ultimately, the global economy.

“The APEC CEO Summit 2012 will convene leaders from business and government to discuss the most important issues affective the Asia-Pacific region,” said Vladimir Androsik, Chairman of the National Business Center. “This year’s priorities include long-term prospects of regional and global integration, sustainable growth and new challenges to trade and investment liberalization, eliminating trade and investment barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises, and establishing reliable supply chains.”

The Summit is expected to feature dynamic interactions with APEC Leaders including the President of China, the President of the Russian Federation, the US Secretary of State among others.

CEO Summit sessions will concentrate on the issues that are most relevant at this stage in the evolution of APEC, including globalization, energy security and human resources as the key elements of economic development. Participants will engage in focused discussion and seek solutions to problems related to securing resources for development, as well as the problems of technologic development, the prospects for development of remote regions in APEC economies, and the issues of education and changing roles for women in the world today.

  • Challenges of globalization
  • Future of fiat currency regimes
  • Responses to resource limitations
  • Ensuring energy and food security
  • Improving reliability of global supply chains
  • Development of distant provinces and borderlands
